General Rules

• Contestant must be within the category’s age range at the date of the competition.

• Contestants must submit a 5 x 7 picture with their application. This picture will be used in the program book and for publicity purposes.

• Contestant will be required to attend rehearsal on the following dates:

  • Sunday, August 1st at 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

  • Thursday, August 5th at 6 p.m.

• Contestant must arrive at location (TBA) by 5 p.m. on Friday, August 6th for final run-through.

• Contestant may have one guest backstage to assist with makeup, hair, wardrobe, etc.

• Contestants in Little Miss, Junior Miss, and Junior Miss will be judged in the talent showcase, personality, prettiest dress, and final interview question.

• Talent:

  • Contestants’ performances will not exceed five minutes.

  • All music will need to be submitted electronically by Thursday, August 5th to tiffanythomas25@gmail.com.

  • Profanity is NOT permitted in any music, lyrics, poetry, or any other part of act.

• Opening Number:

  • All contestants in the Little Miss, Junior Miss, and Miss categories will participate in an opening number. The opening number consists of a brief choreographed dance number and individual introductions. The contestant will provide the following information for their introduction: first and last name, age, grade, and school. Contestants will be provided with a Miss Black and Gold t-shirt to wear for the opening number.

• Parade

  • All Miss Black and Gold contestants are invited to participate in the Come Together Day parade on Saturday, August 7th. Line up will begin in the parking lot of Community Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Parade will begin promptly at 3 p.m.

• Ad Books

  • The Miss Afrosian Award is presented to the contestant that raises the most money in the pageant’s adbook. All proceeds will go toward the Bransford Community Center Construction Fund. All ad submissions must be turned in no later than Sunday, July 25th.
